Who are we?
We are a group of fun-loving people who like to garden and create floral arrangements. We welcome all horticulturalists-at-heart to come to our meetings and to get to know us. Most of our members live in and around Point Loma, but please feel free to join us from farther away.
What do we do?
We meet to discuss topics of interest to hobbyist and professional gardeners. Activities include speakers, plant sales and sharing, craft-making, field trips, and social gatherings. Each meeting is preceded by a potluck brunch. General meetings are on the second Wednesday of every month September through June in Point Loma at:

    You're invited!

Please join the Point Loma Garden Club in the Point Loma/Hervey branch library for three free one hour talks by members who are Master Gardeners. All three of these speakers, at one time or another, have opened their gardens to the public as part of an organized garden tour.

Saturday - Feb 22 - Noon - Lynlee Austell Slayter
The Joy of Sustainability: Creating, Maintaining and Enjoying an Earth-Friendly Garden
Sustainability begins at home. Learn how to use sustainable maintenance practices in your own garden and landscape and how to create Earth Friendly Gardens. Lynlee will show three pathways to sustainability in your own corner of the earth: 1. Little to no expense 2. Moderate expense and 3. Renovation. She presents compelling real-life, before-and-after examples of residential and commercial site transformations.

    Saturday - Mar 01 - Noon - Cindy Sparks
Herbs in the Garden and the Kitchen
Cindy retired from the Aerospace industry and turned her attention earthward. She joined the Master Gardeners in 2005 and has since been MG certified as both a Sustainable Landscape expert and an Edible Landscape Trainer. Being a long-time member of the San Diego Herb Society, she has grown everything from allium to zapote in her garden, including capers!

Saturday - Mar 29 - Noon - Karan Cooper Greenwald
All About Heirloom Tomatoes - From Seed to Salsa
Fifteen years ago, Karan became interested in odd and uncommon tomato varieties. A self-admitted heirloom tomato addict today, she starts seeds and provides between 450-1000 heirloom tomato plants, 55-85 varieties, for the annual Point Loma Garden Club Plant Sale and talks she gives around the county. She was officially crowned the Tomato Queen by the Point Loma Garden Club in 2007, aptly with a crown adorned with tomatoes!

Seating is on a first come basis. We hope to see you at the library!

    Springtime is Almost Here!

And that means it's time for our Annual Plant Sale. It will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 3598 Talbot Street (east of Canon Street) in Point Loma on Saturday, April 26, from 9 am to 12 noon.

Come join us and take home heirloom tomatoes, unusual vegetables and herbs, beautiful patio container plants, as well as specimen, waterwise, and native plants all gown/created by Point Loma Garden Club members.

Plan to visit our Club Cafe and Boutique, and visit with Master Gardeners who will be there to answer any gardening questions.

Proceeds, as always, provide continued philanthropic support for local college scholarships and community organizations. We thank you for your continued patronage and support!

We hope to see you there!
